Sleepy Mase...

I guess Mason has been playing super hard lately.... because he keeps falling asleep in random places!! Either that or he has narcolepsy!!
Here he is playing hard on top of the kitchen table!!
I ran downstairs to answer the business phone and was down there for less then 10 minutes. I came up to find sweet Mason on the top of the stairs with a binkie he doesn't even use and his blankie.... sound asleep. I decided to skip lunch and put him and Maddox down for their nap!

A few days earlier I had the boys in their high chairs for lunch and again had to answer the business phone. I came upstairs after a few minutes to find Maddox fake coughing, and Mason sound asleep. They don't EVER fall asleep like this, so initially I panicked! I checked his breathing and sure enough he was alive.... just really tired!! He is such a sweet boy... I just love to look at my babies when they are sleeping.
(The BBQ sauce in his hair is cute huh?)

Maddox hearts Balloons

A few weeks ago we celebrated Papa Joe's Bday. NinNin had a lot of balloons out for the party, and at the end she untied them and gave each grandkid a bundle to take home. Maddox was instantly in love. He just walked back and forth through their great room like he owned the place! We all thought he was hilarious that night.... but a few days later at home he was still carrying around the balloons not even wanting to put them down for naps! After almost a full week, I had to get rid of them because he cried every time I took them away!! I know I am a mean mom, but I just couldn't handle the whining every time I needed to feed him or take him somewhere that I couldn't take the balloons!

Mystery....

About 3 weeks ago on Sunday we were at church and I noticed this wierd bump on Maddox's wrist. It looked wierd to me... not like a bite, but I wasn't sure what it was. I kind of dismissed it and then a few days later he had several of these little bumps. I was convinced they were chicken pox and was so upset that I would have a couple weeks of sick babies and not leaving the house... I was also completely confused on how he could have gotten chickenpox... other than exactly one week before was their first time in nursery. So I called the pediatrician and he said that if he had them for 3 or 4 days then the first ones would be scabbed over already if they were chickenpox. So I took him in, and the pediatrician wasn't really sure what they were. He said it was probably a virus that presented on his skin or something like that... and that if it didn't go away in few more days that he thought it was a bacterial infection from the pool. So... we waited and they didn't go away.....

(They originally looked like the little spot on his forhead, but he had like 15 of them... Yeah Maddox was looking awesome for a few days with this rash and then Mason hit him with my high heel and gave him this cute black eye!)

Then a few days later..... they were looking like this!!

Yes I was freaking out! He had about 7 or 8 of these bad boys. He had one on his belly that was the size of a silver dollar. So I took him in again on Monday so the doctor could see how they had changed. He told me he really doesn't know what they are and sends me away to a dermatologist. He looked at them and wasn't really sure what they were, but says that it could be some immune system reaction to a virus he had or bug bites. Well later I talked to the pediatrician and he said he didn't think it was the immune system problem... and by they way they looked initially I don't think they were bites. Regardless of what they were... they looked awful! Luckily they didn't seem to bother Maddox at all and Mason never got the mysterious rash! So we still have no clue what they were but I thought I would just post these great pictures.

Depressing News....

So as some of you may know my friend and I ran in the Ogden half marathon in May and we have been training for the Top of Utah Marathon. In all we have been training about 7 months and have literally ran hundreds and hundreds of miles. We both have had some minor injuries... (pulled muscles etc..) Well a couple of weeks ago we were out running and right when we started running my ankle was really hurting. I kept running on it though thinking that it would warm up and be fine. Well I continued to run on it a few days that week and then ran our 14 mile run that weekend. Then the first few days of the next week I rested because my ankle was progressively feeling worse and worse every day. I was feeling nervous because there was no particular injury that had caused the pain, and I had a stress fracture in my knee last year after I started running a few months after I had the boys, and this is exactly how the pain started. I decided I needed to go in and have it looked at. I went to an orthopedic doctor... and right away he said he was 90% sure that it was a stress fracture because of the location and also the way the pain came about. The next day I went in for an MRI and then Last Tuesday I went in for the follow up appt. Bad news... it is definitely a stress fracture. Worse news... it is in a bad location and if I keep running or even keep doing too much on it, it could "disconnect" I think he said, and I would have to have surgery and would probably develop arthritis. So he said, "I can cast it right now.... or if you will really wear a boot, I will prescribe one for you." This was a shocker because when I had the stress fracture in my knee all I had to do was quit running and it healed just fine. I quickly refused the hard cast and told him that I would unhappily wear a boot for the next 6 weeks. The other news is that this is my 3rd stress fracture... the other was in my back my freshman year of high school. So... he wants me to take a bone density test to see if there is some sort of problem. The outcomes could be, nothing at all, beginning stages of osteoporosis, or osteoporosis. I couldn't believe that I mean... I am 23!! I haven't went in for the test yet, but hopefully I won't have to be on Boniva for the rest of my life!! Anyways, after about a week of minor depression I have accepted that I am not running in the Marathon next weekend. I do wish this injury could have presented itself about 3 weeks later, but maybe my bones just aren't cut out for 26.2 miles! I really am missing running, and working towards a major goal. I am also missing all the time I spent with Jen! A lot of people don't like to talk while they run, but we always talk for the entire run... which sometimes would be enough time to watch a few movies!! Anyways she is still running the marathon next week and I am going to go watch her finish and wish that I was there running with her!! How is that for a downer post??

After Josh's Half-Marathon we went out to breakfast with Joe & Karen and our friends Sam & Jen and their family. Josh was definitely ready to get home and get some rest though... so I kept myself from begging to stop at the antique store on our way out of Logan and we headed home. Well we pulled in the garage, got the boys out and realized that I had locked the door from our garage to our house on my way out that morning. I rode up with Joe and Karen, and I specifically remember checking to make sure I had unlocked the door on my way out. Unfortunately I am in the habit of opening it every night to make sure our garage is closed and then I lock it as I close it! (I am a little OCD about this). Well when I checked to see if it was unlocked... I locked it when I closed it!!! So poor Josh who is just wanting to take a load off is locked out!! We checked all the windows and doors, and of course because I was home alone the night before there was defnitely not a window open!! Josh was not wanting to pay a locksmith because we thought it would be a ton so we tried credit cards to open the door and everything else we could think of. Finally I went and borrowed a phone book from my friend Ingrid, and called a locksmith! This was after about 1 1/2 hours. They said they could be there in 40 minutes and it would only be $45 to get us in! Well the boys were getting antsy and super hot... so we decided to turn on the hose and let them have fun!! In the meantime Josh went into the garage to get these beach balls, and low and behold under the package on top of the dog kennel was our extra set of keys that for some reason Josh had set down out there!! So after all that time we ended up saving $45 and the boys had a great time in the water! Luckily I had my camera in the car!

Top of Utah Half Marathon!!

Josh right after the race!
Waiting impatiently for Daddy!

There he goes!!
Go Josh!!!

All of us after the race!

Me and my sweaty hubby!!
Family shot!!
After seeing how cool the Ogden Half Marathon was for me, Josh surprised me, and decided he was going to train to run in a half marathon! So for the past 12 weeks he has been training hard and on the 23rd he ran in the Top of Utah Half Marathon. He did Awesome! This was his first time ever running in something like this, and he set a goal to train at an 8 minute mile pace. He ended up running the half marathon in 1hr 41 minutes. So his race pace was 7 min. 40 sec. miles!! That is awesome for anyone... especially for his first race! He ended up finishing 130th out of around 1400 runners!! It was awesome to watch him finish! The boys were pills... I am glad Joe and Karen came up with me to watch Josh finish or I would have had some problems dealing with them! Also our good friends Sam and Jen and their kids came up to watch Josh finish! He had a big cheering section! Anyways overall it was a great experience. It has been fun for Josh and I to have a common hobby and goal to work towards together! Josh is so dedicated in whatever he sets his mind to. He trained hard, and stuck to his running schedule every day and he exceeded his goal! He enjoyed the race so much that I am sure he will continue to run in 1/2 marathons whenver he gets the chance!

Happy 4 year Anniversary!!

This is a little late... but August 12th was our 4 year anniversary!

We have had an awesome 4 years together! The past 19 months have been so great. We love our boys so much, we love being parents and there isn't anything else we would rather be doing! I am so lucky to have Josh as a husband. He is a great husband and a great Dad. He loves the boys so much and has such a special bond with them. I love watching the boys climb all over him when he gets home for the day. They definitely love their Daddy! I am so grateful that Josh works so hard to support our family and that I am able to stay home with the boys. I always said I would be a stay at home Mom, and I am so glad that Josh has made it possible. Really I just love him a lot in general! There is nobody else I would rather spend my time with. I have been spoiled over the past year to have him home more than normal while we have been getting the business going, but now things are getting more and more busy, and I am really starting to miss spending so much time with him. I am grateful to have a husband who is always willing to help me... and without me asking. I love that we are best friends and that he is the one that I go to for everything. Things aren't always perfect, and yes we have our "tiffs"! ( I love how people don't like to say "we fight") but I always know that I am loved, and that I have a husband who supports me. This is getting way to mushy and Josh is not a mushy guy! He is going to be a little embarrassed probably!! Anyways I love you Josh! Thanks for all you do!

On our anniversary we had Papa Joe and NinNin watch the twins for us. I had never been to Bear Lake, and Josh said I would love a raspberry milk shake so we headed up there for the day. We started off with Lunch and a shake. (It was the best shake ever!) Then we went to the Minnetonka caves, headed to the beach for a while, then went to the scenic lookout. On our way home we up Blacksmith Fork canyon to check out the course for the Top of Utah Marathon.... and finally made our way home to pick up the boys before bed! We had a great day just hanging out and spending time together! Thanks Joe and Karen for always being so willing to take the boys for us! We appreciate it a ton!!
